The ACM Transactions on Storage (TOS) is a new journal with an intent to publish original archival papers in the area of storage and closely related disciplines. Articles that appear in TOS will tend either to present new techniques and concepts or to report novel experiences and experiments with practical systems. Storage is a broad and multidisciplinary area that comprises of network protocols, resource management, data backup, replication, recovery, devices, security, and theory of data coding, densities, and low-power. Potential synergies among these fields are expected to open up new research directions.
The Transactions serves as a central, archival venue for the interdisciplinary storage research community. It covers research contributions that introduce new concepts, techniques, analyses, architectures, devices, as well as applied contributions that report on development of new tools and systems or experiences and experiments with high-impact, innovative applications.
Topics covered by TOS include:
TOS publishes original research papers and short technical notes, and tutorial and survey papers.
TOS accepts submissions of original technical contributions that neither
have been published in archival publications nor are under consideration by
another archival journal at the time of submission. In the case where a
contribution has already been published by a refereed conference, publication in
TOS is permitted only if the editor judges that the revision contains
significant amplification or clarification of the original material, or there is
a significant additional benefit to be gained from the journal publication. In
either case, any prior publication should be noted on the title page of the
submission.
Potential authors should consult the Information for Authors. Authors and readers are both encouraged to peruse the TOS World Wide Web (WWW) pages for related information, including current articles. These pages can be reached through the ACM WWW pages at http://www.acm.org/pubs/tos
The International Editorial Board is composed of recognized experts in the various subareas, all with a commitment to maintain TOS as the premier publication in this important field. Papers can also be submitted directly to any of the editors.
